The 2009 budget reviews confirmed that a £2000 Government Scrappage Scheme would be implemented on all vehicles over ten years old, when traded in for a new vehicle.  Running from 18th May 2009 until March 2010.

Company Car Drivers Hit in 2009 Budget

Changes announced in the 2009 Budget on the banding of company car tax could mean a cost of up to £85 million a year for company car drivers.

This change has been justified under the 'Green banner' irrelevant of the increase in revenue - The Chancellor announced the changes are designed to encourage drivers to transfer to lower emitting cars, however this move has been decribed as a 'stealth tax' on company drivers

New research from esure car insurance has revealed that more than 3.7 million motorists have tampered with their vehicle licence plate or would consider doing so in order to avoid being caught by a speed camera.

Tachographs for company cars

Company cars could soon come with tachographs fitted that allow fleet managers to accurately monitor driver hours and vehicle use.

A new EU law, which has just been introduced by the European Commission, has cleared the way for fleets to fit the new digital tacographs in passenger cars, SUVs and light vans if they choose.
