This concept from Audi is a celebration of over 30 Years of Audi Quattro styling and technology. For now this is just a concept from Audi, but it looks increasingly likely that this particular concept may make it into production within the next few years.
Boasting 1300kg less in weight than its suspected main rival the Porsche 911 GT3 RS, Audi have confirmed they believe that lighter performance cars will pave the way into the future of pushing the higher power envelope within motoring.
This is Essentially an Audi RS5 chasis with a 150mm shorter wheel base and a partial Aluminium and partial carbon fibre body shell for rigidity and strength.
Due to its massive weight loss programme by Audi the 4.4 litre V8 power plant from the RS5 has been replaced with the TT RS 2.5 litre pumping out an impressive 402BHP. Audi have calculated that if there is a fully fledged production model linked with a 6 speed manual gearbox is going to be able to catapult itself from 0-62mph in an outstanding 3.9 seconds. The top speed of this concept has not yet been tested.
When displayed at the Paris motor show it was met with mixed opinions, some described the look of the new concept as “Ugly” others disagreed. I think this is a classic case of a marmite car – Love it or hate it with no middle road.
