The New mini Countryman is the fourth edition of the mini range, it is the first generation of mini to have 4 wheel drive as an option as well as having four fully functional passenger doors for improved access.
Mini describes the countryman as a cross-over due to the ‘All 4’ four wheel drive system being an option and not a standard feature. The ‘All 4’ system is designed to work as a 4x4 but does not work in the same way as the systems incorporated into its rival models. The mini’s system spreads the power ratio 50% to the front and 50% to the back for everyday driving with a transfer of 100% power to the rear if needed.
Mini have put a range of power plants into the countryman ranging from the entry level Mini One D with 89Bhp through to the Cooper S countryman with 181Bhp. All models will be coupled with a 6 speed gearbox as standard but petrol models will have the additional option of a 6 speed automatic with BMW’s steptronic system.
For improved efficiency BMW have fitted the countryman with all of their energy saving technology as standard, brake energy regeneration, Start-Stop, Gearshift indicators and on-demand management of the engines ancillary units.
Air conditioning is a standard feature, where as satellite navigation, various phone systems, panoramic roof, adaptive headlights, tow bar, alloy wheels from 16 inch to 19 inch and sports suspension which lowers the car by 10mm are all optional extras.
The Countryman has four seats as standard, while a three-seat bench is available as a no-cost option. The rear seats move fore and aft either individually or in a 60:40 split and the backrests tilt. Boot capacity ranges from 350 to 1170 litres, according to seat arrangement.
The styling of the countryman compliments its off road capabilities with its increase size and flared wheel arches to give it more of a masculine and rugged look. The interior follows the typical mini trend with oversized dials alongside its modern innovative look but it has a lot more storage space than previous models.
Prices start at £16,000 rising to £20,810 for the range topping Cooper S. The countryman will be released in the Autumn of this year, exact date is yet to be confirmed.

A four door Mini that still retains the qualities of the 2 door. I saw one yesterday and I nearly hadn't noticed that it was a 4 door. I must have been so accustomed as seeing a Mini as a two-seater.

According to me it looks better than current generation..Its new front fascia with frog like eyes and down turned grille looks somewhat sea creature like but still looks nice than its previous version...I think this is Dimensionally longest and tallest in mini till date..Surely it will fun for drive .

Best Tip: finding the car you want from the dealer of your choice, safe in the knowledge that you've already been pre-approved.
