A 10 per cent fall in the oil price during January has barley registered at the pumps for UK drivers instead prices seem to be forever rising leaving motorists very concerned.
The average fuel prices in the UK currently stand at:
Diesel | 110.1ppl/500ppg |
Super unleaded | 110.5 / 502 |
Unleaded | 104.5 / 475 |
Four star | 1060 / 482 |
LPG | 53.6 / 244 |
In one week, the UK price of petrol has shot up by a penny with diesel even more. However, at the same time market commentators have reported the US selling cut-price fuel to Nigeria.
So why are the UK fuel prices soaring while petrol is being offered at a discount elsewhere?
The average petrol prices have now reached an all time high compared to just 87.27p a litre a year ago along with diesel which has also soared compared to 91.09p a litre a year ago.
The AA have reported it is costing a further £8.79 to fill a typical 50-litre fuel tank with an average car owner now spending £18.84 more a month on petrol.
The UK has the sixth highest unleaded price in Europe and the second highest diesel price.
The cost of motoring in the UK is prohibitive, however some believe this isn't an accident, it's a deliberate policy to make every mile driven expensive so we'll consider whether to use the car.
Is this a push to go eco-friendly?
