Sports Car Meets Hybrid

 

 

 The New Honda CRZ made its world premier in Detroit earlier this year, its sporty looks and agile handling make it one of the first hybrids in production that consumers can get excited about.

 

The CRZ is the world’s first hybrid to be garnished with a 6 speed manual gearbox which immediately increases the driver input and responsiveness of its drive. The1.5 Litre i-Vtec petrol has been coupled with Hondas IMA hybrid system with three different drive types (Sport, Normal and Econ) dependant on the drivers frame of mind.

 

 The 1.5 Litre Hybrid engine can achieve an astonishing 56.5 mpg with co2 emissions as low as 117g/km. We found that the electric power unit helps boost the throttle response and we were actually surprised at how nippy the CRZ is for a hybrid driven car. Any big bears that you may have about the performance of a hybrid sports car being dampened down can now be rendered void.

 

 In addition to the above, Honda have created the CRZ as a squat sporty looking 2+2 coupe with a responsive chassis resulting in the CRZ having go Kart like handling, which of course means an abundance of grip and excitement.

 

 

Styling on the CRZ is itself new to the consumer. The Exterior shape, size and look is like no other car in production. With its aerodynamic wedge shape sitting on a lowly strung wide wheel base and daytime running lights makes CRZ look light, agile and sporty and gives the impression of an exciting drive in waiting.  

 

 
The interior cocoons the driver and all controls are within a comfortable reach. There is a large array of information displayed to aid the driver in driving efficiently and economically. The back lighting of the display changes with each option of driver mode and the rev range colour indicates when to change gears dependant on which mode is selected. There are portals for i pods and attachment facilities for telephone built into the dashboard.

 

The CRZ comes with an artillery of optional extras such as heated seats, Satellite Navigation, Parking sensors, Cruise control, multi functional steering wheel and glow pack to name a few.
